I'm looking for a camera to take on trips that is fairly robust. Im looking to spend somewhere in the $200-$300 range. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not a serious photographer (yet) but would like to have some good pictures to document my travels. Thanks!

The Pentax Optio WG falls into your price range. It's a beefy outdoor camera that comes with, or without GPS.I don't own one, but have talked to people that do, and they have been very satisfied with the camera. Here are a few links....

Just do a Google search for the Pentax Optio WG and you will find scores of reviews on them. For a camera to carry around hiking, backpacking, or for any outdoor use, it would be a good choice.

Yeah, the Canon S and G series are good and shoot raw which is much better for post processing if you are trying to get into taking more shots and maybe upgrading to a bigger camera. I have an S95 that I often take in addition to my Canon 6D or if it's a really wet trip like out on the yak, I'll just bring the S95 in a Pelican case. It takes some good shots.

another plus for the Canon S series.
At the moment I'm using a Canon S110 and it's a good all around camera. I usually use it as my back up camera but also had complete trips just with the little one. I also use it for wet trips in an Otter box and can't complain about the quality of the shots.

Get the camera with the best glass, sensors are important but the quality of the lens is paramount IMO.
Just my $.02.
