Camera equipment and water damage - any ideas?

Probably 1/4 of our state lost power, we were just lucky where we are. Lost it for literally 25 seconds on Monday, that's all. Lots of trees down, and street flooding, but as far as I know, for the most part, the rivers stayed down, unlike the flooding we had from Irene last year (moreso in vermont :( )

I'm thankful it wasn't much much worse, especially like what I've seen in your state and NJ.
good to know you were spared this time. Last year we basically had no effects in my area when most of your areas took the hardest hit.
I sometimes wish they had cancelled classes that Monday when it hit my area. Maybe that could have prevented at least the camera gear damage.
Anyway, I have to wait and see what my insurance company will really cover.
At least the rain has stopped today after seven days.
I wish I had a camera because all our waterfalls must basically explode so much water is running down the creeks.

okay, I let the camera and all the hard drives dry for almost 6 days.
I tried to turn the camera on today, but nothing. Somehow I expected that.
Now I need to get a new one as soon as possible, because I need one for my photography class on Thursday. :(
Maybe I'm lucky and I can find a used body at my local camera store

Amazon overnight shipping is only $4 per item if you have a Prime account ($80 annual). Well worth it, IMO.

not sure it's much help, and I think I've mentioned it before, but KEH.com is where I've gotten a lot of good used gear throughout the years... Also I'm not sure if you can use it as it's a pretty much a paperweight at this point, but if my old D2H would be of help, I could let you borrow it (it's like 4.1MP, and awful in anything over 800 ISO, but in a pinch....) It's in rough shape cosmetically, but it works....

Josh, thanks a lot for this offer, I really appreciate it.
But I couldn't resist an offer at my local camera store. I almost hit the button for a new body at Amazon, but then my local store offered me an even better price. The camera should arrive on Wednesday.
I can't wait. :)
And the price was really reasonable for 800 bucks. In May I paid 1100 dollar for the same body.
Hopefully I will get most of the money back from my insurance.
And I can use the camera on Thursday for my class and then maybe this weekend in St. George :frantic:

I slowly make progress with my house repairs. The roof is fixed now, next week the foundation in my basement will be fixed.
No paint job and new carpet in my living room until I finally move in December. I have to do this any way. So maybe I can do it with some extra money .
