Building my canoe

Looking good!

Hey @uintahiker, your thread reminds me of a video and blog I came across when I was scouting out a trip on the NFCT. I went and found it again because I thought you might enjoy seeing another build similar to yours.

Looks fun. Man I'm getting excited to finish it! I planed the high points on one side of it yesterday. Getting closer.

That is pretty awesome! I never would have thought about building a canoe. Nice job!

I'm getting more excited now! It's getting really close

What kind of wale?
Of course, will it fit in the living room?
Not quite sure what you're asking. The inwales and outwales together make up the gunwale. That's 3 kinds of wales right there! But, they're all made out of cherry.

Should fit in the living room, but I don't know if I want to try to get it in there after what my couch went through when we moved it in.

Wow! Very cool.

What tools are required for such a project?

Love the polished wood look.

Fine job sir!

I was mostly being a smartarse but now you have piqued my curiosity. Any idea why there are wales at all? What is the origin of these terms? Maybe the gun is clamped to the wale and the outer and inner are obvious. But, why wale?

Words are important.
