A buddy and I took a long weekend trip down to Boulder Mountain to do some car camping/fishing last September. We had an great trip and caught some amazing fish. Weather was excellent for that time of the year and the scenery was second to none. Here are some pics.

This TR is one of the main things that keeps the thought of a trip to the Boulders alive. Just so frustrating how many roads there are crisscrossing that place when laying out a backpacking route.

Yep, it's not much for backpacking because of all the roads. There is one lake that I am planning on backpacking to this Fall that is supposed to have some monster brook trout. It's only about 2.5 miles in though and it is considered the most remote lake on the mountain.... Pretty hard to beat the fishing though...

You've gotta love the look of those Tiger Trout!

I agree. We've tried to put a trip together, but never knew where to go or how bad the roads were and if you could even still access them without tearing your rig up.

The road going up to the area we stayed in during this trip was crazy! I just have a stock Jeep Grand Cherokee with the inline 6 but I had to put it in 4 Lo to make it up one of the hills. It was about a 60 degree incline covered with basketball sized boulders and it was bout 50yds long. I tried gong up it in 4 Hi but only made it half way up and had to back down and then go at it in 4 Lo. Most of the people up in the area came in on ATVs. I know why they named it Boulder Mountain!
