My friend Niels Carlson and I climbed up Sweeney Peak today, and it was gloriously sunny, yet diabolically windy. Crystal clear views all around! To the North, the entire Mission Range and Swan Mountains, to the West, a large portion of the Idaho side of the Selway-Bitterroot wilderness, to the East, the whole Sapphire mountains and the Anaconda Pintler Wilderness with the peaks of the Continental Divide clearly visible. Finally to the South a great view of the Bitterroot Spine and Saint Joseph Mountain.
The snowy-ass ridge heading to top
Approaching the top
Yay! the top. This is the view looking south toward the bitterroot crest
The view directly north of Lolo Peak
North View of the Mission mountains and the Swan mountains
Me tryin to stay warm.
Enjoyable 12 mile round trip with a 3200' elevation gain to the summit
