Best of 2024

We need a Best of 2024 album!
(*or Looking Back at 2024.)

I will post a handful below.

Nearing the end of the year, I am glad to have lived vicariously through trip reports and messages from so many of you this year. Thank you.
Here is to good trekking, health, and happiness in the future.

This year started and ended with solo trips in the desert, plus several more fantastic desert trips in between. Trips with good company, or when I was solo, with singing frogs or silence.


Many sunrises and sunsets.


Lots of great trips with friends and family. Usually, these all involve some amount of walking and then good food in the evenings.


Of course there were two great nights chasing the Aurora.


There were mountains too... The Winds, the local fare, a few Uintas trips, plus two trips to the Tetons and Yellowstone.
This day might have been one of the top two or three days of the year.

and they say, once you have a cat, then you take more photos of them than anything else. (Next year there will be photos of two cats )


31 nights in a sleeping bag this year... maybe I will get one more.
Lots of great starry nights, or in this case a 530 or 6am one at the Needles

Not necessarily all of my "best" photos of 2024, but a bunch grabbed from the selection process for the yearly calendar that I make for family. I favour landscapes that include one of us in the scene, usually Jo as I'm the one with the camera. Some of these made the cut, others didn't, but they all remind me of some great days in the outdoors.
