OK folks, post your 2017 Bag Nights here! Don't forget to post a pic!

There are no official rules, but a bag night here is typically defined by a night out camping in some form. It doesn't matter if you sleep on a tarp, in a tent, or in the back of your car. It is more of an attitude thing. If you are outside to enjoy nature, if it's camping, it's a Bag Night.

Now I will go wrap up the 2016 Bag Night challengers and announce the winners.

Good morning from a chilly 12 degrees East Texas.
Finally got the weather I've been waiting for to test my Western Mountaineering 20 degree Alpinlite Long bag in my backyard.
2017 Total YTD: 2 nights.
Jan. 5, 24 degrees.
Jan. 6, 12 degrees.
The Alpinlite is a winner.

Chalk me up for one in 2017. I'm still tempted to start counting camping on New Year's Eve as a double night, but until then...

2017 Total YTD: 1 Night
Dec 30-Jan 2 > Bears Ears National Monument > 1 Night (in 2017)

I didn't take any photos on the night of the 1st outside St. George, but this is where I woke up on the first day of the year in Comb Wash in our new Bears Ears National Monument. I'm loving that REI Alcove Shelter as a shelter over the bed of the truck for when it's rainy/snowy out. Yeah, I could setup a tent, but there's something about the back of the truck and being able to look around that I like.

Feb 3-5 > St. George boat cleaning trip > 2 Nights

I went down to St. George last weekend to cleanup the boat so I could list it for sale. Heading out on a much more fun trip tomorrow and it made me realize I forgot to track my nights. So here it is. This is the view we woke up to on Sunday morning. It was straight up wintery the second night and pretty nice the first. Thanks @Artemus for inviting us to your spot.

2017 Total YTD: 5 Nights

Dec 30-Jan 2 > Bears Ears National Monument > 1 Night (in 2017)
Feb 3-5 > St. George boat cleaning trip > 2 Nights
Feb 10-12 > Colton Guard Station, Uintas > 2 Nights

Just got back from an awesome weekend of backpacking-style cabin camping in the Uintas with @Smokey, @slc_dan, @lostlandscapes and Matt. We stayed at the Colton Guard Station Friday through Sunday. A bit under 5 miles each way on skis and splitboards. Perfect mix of weather including 5-6" of fresh snow the first night. This was sunset last night.

Snowshoed in with a group and spent the night near Nederland, CO. I built a DIY pulk sled to get my gear in. The guys dug this really cool snow fire pit.

I think this is my first bag night for 2017. I better get busy :)

Should have added 2 nights to the board this weekend, but this happened this morning near the end of my first ride of around 10 planned for the weekend. No major injuries but I'm pretty beat up and can't get my knee to get through a full cycle of the pedals. But no ER, so there's that.

I like the preview on that video. Quite the teaser.
On a more serious note, I'm sorry to hear that it screwed up your knee. I hope the recovery is quick!

Bwahaha! Oh, sorry. That is a great clip! Except for you getting hurt of course. Did Sage lick your face when you were on the ground moaning?
Gotta stay away from them mountain bike thingies... Dangerous! I am wondering if you pulled a rock into the brake caliper.

I'm counting this ...

2 nights (3/10-3/11) - Grand Canyon backcountry parking lot in my adventure van.

We left from SLC at 330, we arrived at 1am on Friday morning, slept from 130 to 330, got up and readied the packs, hit the Bright Angel TH @ 445. We hiked Rim2Rim2Rim in 23 hours, returning @ 345am. Roughly 50 miles and 21,000 feet gain/loss. It was an epic day. It was so nice to get back to the van and just sleep.

Here's some pics...
