Moving has put a serious cramp on my bag nights so far this year, but I was able to camp in the mountains in May without even taking a jacket...so moving back east has some advantages.

Here's a friend we made on the trail...my first-ever live eastern diamondback rattlesnake. He was about 3.5 feet long and completely uninterested in us. Being right in the middle of the trail, though, we gave him a respectable distance.

so, yeah, Utah is soul country. big props on the few suggestions to head thru capitol reef and the escalante instead of over towards moab area... its funny how with 13 days, which is a reasonable stretch, i feel like i barely scratched the surface of the areas i was even in, and coulda spent 13 days exploring each spot alone.

highlight thus far: upper muley twist, and the solitude of escalante river canyon.
