The alpine larch season was late in coming but is pretty much done now.
A random selection from several hikes:
Gorgeous! If you're willing to provide date and location, I'd appreciate it. We're hoping to hike Silver Falls/Choprock next fall, and I'd love to hit it at peak color - like this! I know every year is slightly different, but the info would still be helpful. Two of my favourite fall colours. Golden trees and warm red sandstone:

In 2021 I was in the Upper Gulch and Escalante river near the bridge at peak fall colors on October 30th and 31st.Gorgeous! If you're willing to provide date and location, I'd appreciate it. Sounds great - thanks!Elevation is always a factor, but the Escalante area cottonwoods start to yellow mid-October, peaking the end of October most years. At lower elevation below 40 mile, I had some yellow still at Thanksgiving 4-5 years ago.
For the loop you speak of, you do not just need leaves to be blown away![]()
First 3 are October 19 near the Escalante River and Hwy 12. Second 3 are from the Needles district on the 25 and 26th.Gorgeous! If you're willing to provide date and location, I'd appreciate it. Helpful - thanks. @regehr had previously said Oct. 20 might be a good time to see cottonwood color (further downstream). So through a combination of all this info, I'm thinking we'll go sometime between the 20th - 31st. But now I have to wait almost a whole year - bummer!First 3 are October 19 near the Escalante River and Hwy 12. Second 3 are from the Needles district on the 25 and 26th.
