Anyone shot with the new Canon 16-35?

Kind of unrelated, but I'm starting to get itchy about replacing my body.

Are you going to stay Canon? 5DmkIV is coming out soon, but that's more camera than I really want. I'm waiting on a possible 6DmkII in 2017 but also open to other ideas.

I think I am. I'd love to switch to a Sony mirrorless full frame rig, but there really is a huge perception issue when you show up to a shoot with a little camera. Size may not matter so much to image quality anymore, but it does when you want people to believe you know what you're doing. People think pro cameras are big. A full frame Canon with a 70-200 with the hood on is monstrous, and that just looks cool.

I was just reading about this dual pixel raw that lets you focus in post on the new 5dIV. I don't think it's confirmed, but damn! http://blog.creativelive.com/canon-5d-mark-iv-dual-pixel-raw/

I've also struggled a lot recently with focus speed on my 6D and I wonder if it's time to get the upcoming 5d for that reason alone. Maybe hang onto the 6d and use both. It's not an issue with portraits and most of my recreational stuff, but it definitely is at events and shooting faster moving things. I find myself turning AF off more and more and just hoping it stays close enough. I don't know. Maybe I just need to get all the sand cleaned out of my 6d.

You need to keep your clients away from your shoot! :) I charge more if the client or homeowner are around (very snobby of me I know), as it takes longer and generally more frustrating to do my job. My Canon is only a 5DmkII, and I love it. I have a love/hate relationship with the Sony, but in the end size does matter like you said, but it is the size of the RAW file that is important to me. I nearly always crop, so it gives me a decent size file in the end. With the Metabones adapter I can use my Canon lenses. And the A7R is quite affordable. Plus, Focus Peaking rocks!
I love the small body when shooting around town, very discreet.

I'm not even talking about architectural shooting. I've been doing a lot more head shots, events and video shooting where they are there by design.

I agree with you on the focus speed, but I knew that going in with the 6D. I hesitate to move to a heavier body though since I primarily shoot while hiking. I've even been known to carry two different DSLRs because I'm an idiot.
