An Icon of the South-West has fallen

Was there 9 years ago and figured its days were numbered. Glad to hear it apparently died a natural death versus purposeful or accidental human stupidity.

Yup, fair enough @Bob, I guess this is more of a tourist/photographer location than a hiker/backpacker one.

However, if you do visit north-west New Mexico, I highly recommended a wander around the Bisti/De-Na-Zin and Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness areas to see the vast badlands and remarkable hoodoos.
 
the badlands I've heard of ... haven't gone to New Mexico much.
 
Like Bob, I've also never heard of it. Is it in Bisti? I camped at Bisti a few years ago in March and it was so windy I had to tie my tent to my car.
