An Icon of the South-West has fallen

Was there 9 years ago and figured its days were numbered. Glad to hear it apparently died a natural death versus purposeful or accidental human stupidity.

Yup, fair enough @Bob, I guess this is more of a tourist/photographer location than a hiker/backpacker one.

However, if you do visit north-west New Mexico, I highly recommended a wander around the Bisti/De-Na-Zin and Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness areas to see the vast badlands and remarkable hoodoos.
 
the badlands I've heard of ... haven't gone to New Mexico much.
