I'm planning a trip in a couple weeks...most of the time we'll spend on Cedar Mesa...but I'd like to do a 2-3 day trip in the Robbers Roost area. I've found lots of info on the technical canyoneering, but little on backpacking. I'm thinking about hiking down the horse trail Kelsey shows into White Roost canyon, setting up camp downcanyon somewhere, and then spending a day or two exploring the North Fork, Robbers Roost, etc. I've seen a few pics of the North Fork and it looks gorgeous. Would there be some decent campsites down there? and water sources? Would appreciate any advice...or suggestions for alternative trips in the area with solitude where we could hike for a day into a site and set up a base camp.

I spent a day in white roost just a bit more than 2 years ago, I think it was Feb 2019. there was plenty of water, not sure how long it lasts. we enterned using this horse trail and walked down-canyon to the Angel Arch exit and this is very cool and worth seeing -- you walk through and arch and then up over it to exit the canyon. it's very wide canyon down there and there would be a million places to camp. only problem is that at least at that time it was very cowed up, just nasty. other than that, this area looks to me to be really good for backpacking.

I've only done technical canyoneering in the area, but did the research for a future backpacking trip. I thought the area from the last rap to the exit of Larry Canyon was quite nice and merited a trip back.

Given the current drought, you might consider a version of Allen's Dirty Devil/Roost route since the water sources are documented. In addition to Allen, Kelsey, and the technical canyoneering exit beta, I leveraged these TRs for reference:
