Check out the Jenny Lake Rangers blog here, they update it often with weather/pass/trail info. The station opens first week of June so you can call them for info before your trip.

N 43° 45.2979 W 110° 49.4570 - awesome S Fork Site
Anything on Death Canyon shelf is great - we stayed here 43.656212, -110.898491 - not as far down as we wanted to go that day due to weather but it was a nice spot
I can echo what @regehr says having taken formal classes on mountaineering including ice axe belay and self-arrest. The ice axe has many uses, primarily it should be a self-belay tool. Then a climbing aid and lastly, a self-arrest tool.
#1. Don't fall
May sound dumb to say, but it's true...
I'll add mine: 2 door Jeep. 3.5" lift with 35" tires and a winch. Only downside is space inside. But for 2 people and gear, maybe a dog, it goes anywhere I need it to.
Just missed that Lake of the Crags post... that's on my list as well - hike was recommended by @Absarokanaut when I was up there last year.
@Scott Chandler - The mountains and small stones along the shore make me think that is in Glacier NP somewhere, could be wrong of course.
Yeah. So you should look at the NYSDEC website and read about primitive camping. A lot of the wilderness areas in the ADKs allow wilderness camping. It's always best to camp in a designated spot, they are usually marked well. They are first come first serve.
Here...
Cranberry Lake is really nice, I would love to go back there... its been about 20 years since I was in that area of the ADKs. I used to spend nearly 2 weeks every summer out there. There should be plenty of amazing options for you in the Adirondacks for Canoe/Kayak trips. This site may not be...
Holy F - $202.37 - gotta keep that one from the wife....
I did do some Christmas shopping there this year for some family, though.
@Don - I've had some awesome scores at the SLC store for the garage sale, maybe because its a bigger store they seem to have more gear. It's still really only...
You just need to be prepared for any weather conditions - If you can, bring all your gear to the trailhead and tweak the gear you pack according to the weather when you get there and the forecast.
FYI I'm 2/2 for snow in the Teton high country - in July and September.
My go to top layers for...
Most of that snow will probably melt off next week - some may linger, but looking at the forecast I doubt it. You should be fine through October.
Like anything in the high country, any time of year, cold enough temps and moisture could mean snow. Just be prepared with proper gear to stay warm...
I made a quick overnighter with one of my dogs up into Amethyst Basin Sat-Sun. A lot of people, but it was worth it. I was able to find a nice sheltered, secluded site on the north end of Ostler Lake for the night. I was a bit bothered by the amount of campers that were camped 'on the trail' - I...
Hey thanks for the replies...
There was a a Yellowstone/Tetons thread on here awhile ago and @Chuck the Mauler mentioned some members live up in that area and may have some info on getting from place to place (hitching/ride/taxi)
Sounds like we may have to taxi it early to leave my car at...
Need help/advice getting from Jenny Lake area to the Tram. I'm not sure exactly where we will be camped yet (probably Gros Ventre) on Saturday 7/9 but we would like to leave my car at the Jenny Lake/String Lake area to pick up on our way out.
Starting Teton Crest from Tram morning of Sunday...
If it were me I would head down Kane Creek Blvd - (Turn right Between BK and McDonalds off Main St in Moab) - Keep going to the river, you can try any of those campsites along the river or keep going until you cross the creek and it turns to a dirt road. Not the most private or pristine...
