Loooove Deseret Peak! That last time I did it was my first time doing this route you did, rather than the out and back. Must have been later in the season because we didn't see nearly as many wildflowers. Such great views!
Very nice! Looks like a great earlier season outing.
Also I think you may have accidentally copied and pasted your paragraph and photos a few times. It repeats a few times in the report.
We saw one day hiker and three pairs of backpackers the first day. Then one pair of trail runners the second day, that I think had backpacked in and were out on a day hike/run. We felt like we had the place to ourselves pretty much the entire time, especially since we encountered all the...
Glad you liked it! Yes I even realized as it was unfolding, that bear encounter was something I'd never forget.
That encounter you had sounds like similar behavior. I wondered if ours was just curious or what. Although yours sounds maybe more predatory since it continued trying to get close...

Here is a little early season trip to get everyone hyped for their Yellowstone trips this summer. My friend Steve texted a week or so in advance to gauge interest in camping a night at Mammoth and then doing an overnighter in the Black Canyon of the Yellowstone area. It was a...
A friend got permits for a trip where we'll stay at Joseph's Coat and attempt to see Fairyland Basin. Very interested to see how challenging that one is.
And I think we'll be doing an overnight somewhere around the Black Canyon this weekend.
No lottery luck required for either of those!
Born in Richmond and lived there until i was 9, then spent the rest of my childhood in Noblesville.
Never spent much time in your neck of the woods. Went up there a few times for cross country meets, but that's about it!
That may be outdated because there are definitely some little log bridges across a shallower spot on that slough. Would not be pleasant to ford!
@TractorDoc I've been curious about the Buffalo Lake entry. That will be some cool walking through that part. I don't think many people ever go that way.
We got our annual Bechler trip booked. Learned through experience that rec dot gov will prevent you from booking sites that are too far apart according to trail miles. We want to do one where we go off trail from Pitchstone to Gregg Fork, trying to follow an old disused trail, and it wouldn't...
