It seems odd, but maybe it's not that big a deal. It's not even a mile on the road from Ruth Lake TH to Highline TH. They could probably walk it in 15 minutes or so. It just doesn't make a lot of sense that they'd be at Ruth Lake unless they'd come in from somewhere else in the western Uintas...

It is the one scenic consolation prize we get east of the Mississippi. Sadly, it only lasts a few weeks. And the yellow aspens in the Rockies are nearly as cool anyway.

One more question: what map do you use for the Gros Ventres? I'm a huge fan of the Trails Illustrated, but I don't think that their Teton area map gives a lot of detail of the Gros Ventres (or maybe I'm wrong and it does?) or do you just use the quads, or some printout of caltopo, or what?
