    Outfitter Etiquette

As someone who did shuttles for several seasons I say if you want to tip then go ahead. I never expected to get one (I was making alright money for running the shuttle), but when I did it made it that much better. I don't think shuttle drivers are expecting a tip, or they shouldn't be. It's nice...

This is one of my favorite hikes!

    Hanging?

I'm gonna have to agree with most of what was said here. I like my hammock and I've used it quite a bit, but I prefer a tent or a tarp.

    Delano Peak and Mt. Holly

We did and it made us jealous. We'll be back there next year for some skiing and adventuring in the Tushars. Yeah it was weird. Especially since the elevation says 12,169 and the USGS marker says 12,173...

    Delano Peak and Mt. Holly

Originally on Howells Outdoors. No joke, but on April 1st 2015 I got to visit southern Utah’s mountaineering playground the Tushar Mountains. A friend invited me to head into the Tushar Mountains. i knew of the area, but had only been to Eagle Point Ski Resort. I found it to be an amazing...

Mt. Timpanogos for the First Time

Thanks for the comments. I really loved mountaineering and I did enjoy seeing mountains and not desert.

Mt. Timpanogos for the First Time

On Feb 21, 2015 I joined up with a few friends and attempted to climb Mt. Timpanogos in northern Utah. I had never been mountaineering before and neither had about half the group. It was slow going, we didn’t summit, but it was an awesome day! Photo: Scott Wyatt We did however make it to a...

Canyoneering and Backpacking in the Grand Canyon

That was one of the big reasons I didn't bring it, but seeing a rafting group fishing and pulling 'em in made me jealous. The hike out isn't bad (in that there are a lot worse in the Grand Canyon). Its some boulder scrambling for several hundred hards, no real trail just the creek and the ledge...

    pack size

I'll bring in my collection of bags...I can never have enough. I started with a 65L Deuter AirComfort...best bag I ever had. I still have it but I only use it for 2+ nights in the winter. I have since moved to my 40L Deuter Futura for most backpacking. I love it because I have my system dialed...

Canyoneering and Backpacking in the Grand Canyon

It was definitely one of the best backpacking camps I've been at. I'm still kicking myself for not taking my fishing pole though...

If you willing to swim it wasn't hard. We didn't go down them. Just went to there and then scrambled back on canyon left.

Merwin and Baybill are awesome slots, not sure about many of the other side canyons. A lot of the white cliffs above Mineral house many ruins too. I think the upper is a bit less favorable than the lower, but still nice stuff to see. And if you have a nice 4x4 ATV the road does go all the way...
