Seeking free, 2WD-friendly campsites just north of Moab

Hey instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd just post here. So next weekend I'll be leaving salt lake about 7pm and going to moab. I need a place that won't be hard to find in the dark and that I can get to in my car which is a hyundai elantra. I'd obviously prefer somewhere free if...

Wheeler Peak, Great Basin National Park

Great trip report. Everytime I'm driving down I-15 I think about making a trip out to GBNP. Seems like it would be a nice np for not being too crowded. I was thinking it was cold here in slc this morning. The temperature would probably be tolerable but that wind (and the wind here) is what...

    Convertible Pants

For sleeves you could look into getting the ones for cycling. I have some i use in the cool seasons and they are great. I know they make some for summer too.

    Convertible Pants

That's so funny because for me mountain hardwear fits great. But everyone is different to. I love the durability of them as well. If you find they fit I'd recommend them.

    What's on your feet?

I'm also looking for a new brand of shoes to try out. I love the comfort Merrell's have always provided but unfortunately they don't last long for me anymore. If I'm lucky 4 months. I've tried on Vasque and various other brands at rei and such but I don't even like the feel of them. I'm going to...

    Broads Fork, Wasatch Mountains

Gorgeous shots! Broads Fork is one of my favorites. Just the first mile of the trail makes for a quick and easy workout anytime of the year. I haven't gone up Broads Fork yet this winter. I'll have to go sometime within the next week or so.

    Southern Utah February 2013

I'm going to Vegas (for a concert in March) with some friends, and our schedule (well more like theirs) is tight but this is making me wish I had more time to spend down there. I think I've convinced my friends to make at least one quick stop on the way home somewhere.

Looking for New Music To listen To....

How could I forget Explosions in the Sky (one of my favorites to listen to and see live)? In other post rock music I recommend This Will Destroy You's-Young Mountain. Also Ef and Kyte are a few more favorites.

    Microspikes

Love my Kahtoola's I have two pairs (because I need a larger size for my winter boots). I was able to get them at a discounted price but I've been using them for well over a year. Last year in Bryce Canyon I was able to walk down sheets of ice without even having to worry about falling. I often...

    Snowshoeing For Dummies

I think most have covered the basics here for you, and clothing wise it sounds like you are set. I use my rain jacket as a shell up top, but most of the time it stays in my pack unless it's windy or stormy.

    The 13th Full Moon, December 28-29 2012

We went up to Dog Lake from the Spruces, we had intentions of heading down through one of the gulches, but everyone was so cold they wanted the quickest route back. Still amazing though it truly is an experience you can't describe. It really is a shame it isn't a full moon with all this snow.

    The 13th Full Moon, December 28-29 2012

Great shots! I went out with a group of friends in BCC that night (no pictures as I don't have the right camera) and it was cold. It's probably a good thing you went yourself because you could keep moving at your own pace to keep warm. I discovered fairly quick that at night in those...

    Christmas in Arches 2012

Great shots! I agree with Noun Sequitur about overcast days. Gives the place a completely different vibe and when I was there in Nov and it turned into a stormy/overcast afternoon the crowd dissipated altogether.
