    Labor Day Plans

Well I never did make it hiking over the weekend, but Saturday I went rowing out on The Great Salt Lake, followed by swimming at my apartment complex. Yesterday I enjoyed delicious ribs at my parents house (foods an important part of the holiday right?). Today I had to work and it was busy...

    Daypack for backpacking?

Currently i have a drawstring bag that I use. The straps aren't the most comfortable but it works. Eventually I want to get one of those tiny day packs that pack down incredibly small. It would save me a little weight and the straps are wider and more comfortable.

    Labor Day Plans

My plans will consist of a hike, a concert, studying, sleeping, working, relaxing, and swimming. I originally wanted to go to gb national park but the people I'd planned going with bailed out a few weeks ago. Besides labor day is a day I get paid more at work so I won't complain.

I'm actually backpacking timp next we with a friend who wants to go. Haven't decided if we want to make a loop out of it yet. While it'd be neat to see i don't like coming down Aspen grove.

2 Boy Scouts Missing Near King's Peak

I was in the area yesterday and heard/saw the helicopter. Not even the ranger who stopped and talked to us knew who they were searching for. I realize sometimes things happen and you can get stuck in tight spots, but in groups like this they should make sure everyone knows the details of the...

    Gear storage

I'm curious as I'm about to lose storage space and moving into an apartment. Luckily I have the "master" room with a walk in closet. I don't have many clothes to store in it, but all of my gear will take up space.

    Hand held GPS

Try backcountry navigator. You get a free trial for 30 days. I like it because I can put my phone on airplane mode and still have a map. I do have to save a file of the area I'll be in ahead of time but it's quite simple. If I use the tracking device it kills battery faster so every now and then...

Timp: Timpooneke or Aspen Grove route

Even though the Timpooneke trail is longer, I prefer it. I just felt like the aspen grove kicked my ass the entire way (granted I was starting to get a cold) but I just wasn't a fan. It probably didn't help that it happened to be a Saturday (I had never done the summit on a saturday). I also...

Looking for a nice waterfall hike in Little Cottonwood

If you park outside the campground (can't recall the name at the moment) you can walk through and see a couple waterfalls. As mentioned before the others you see would be a lot of bushwacking as those areas are meadows. I do know there is a faint trail off of the red pine trail that heads down...

    Convertible Pants

I love Prana's clothing. I have a couple pairs of capris I bought a few years ago for my trip to Greece. They are still in excellent condition, and are the best for traveling as they are wrinkle free.
