In July 2006 we did a trans-sierra hike through Royce Lakes on the east side over through Bear Lakes Wilderness and out the west side at Bear Creek Trailhead. It was a 3 night trip. Typical great Sierra weather. This is my first post, been watching all of the trip reports for a couple years. They are great.91206 011.jpg 91206 038.jpg 91206 041.jpg 91206 074.jpg 91206 077.jpg 91206 084.jpg 91206 087.jpg 91206 090.jpg 91206 118.jpg 91206 130.jpg 91206 169.jpg 91206 186.jpg 91206 187.jpg

Awesome pictures! Where exactly is this, say in relation to Kings Canyon NP? I've spent a few week backpacking the 3 national parks in the Sierras, but still have so much more to explore over there, especially the non NP areas. The high country is just amazing!

Thanks. This is north of Kings Canyon and south of Yosemite in the High Sierra and John Muir Wilderness

@Shaverkid beautiful shots - adding area to list.

Alright, time to get out the maps... I crossed the Sierra on the Sierra High Route in spring, on snow, some years back. It crosses three ranges including the upper Kern River. I think you are north of that? We exited into Sequoia National Park. Nice TR. Do you have a route map perhaps?

Your excellent pics brought back a wealth of memories. Many moons ago I was spending every free moment in those mountains. Must have over 200 bag nights there from '89 to '04.

Great report. I may have to add this to my trip next month.

Still learning this trip report stuff. No map. Trailhead on the east side is above Bishop, Ca. Royce Lakes, Bear Lakes, out Bear creek near Edison Lake.

Thanks, Most of my early years spent in the Sierra's also

Your trip was awesome. It makes me want to post my JMT experience. I love the Sierras. the range of light. the range of exploration. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool...after just taking my first trip into the Sierra's this past weekend, I know I definitely will need to return for some future trips :)

Awesome trip report. Most of my hikes have been in the Sierras (until I became fixated on Utah the past 10 years) so it's nice to see TR's coming from there. I'm especially partial to the Eastern side. Love that picture with the two lakes-where was that taken?

Thanks, Same for me with the Sierras mostly West side, but all over until I got hooked on the Grand Canyon years ago. The two lakes are Royce Lakes
