Art, unfortunately bag nights, or any kind of camping like here in Utah, aren't allowed in Germany. :(
Maybe I'll spend a weekend in the Alps.

Strictly speaking, 13 of them are mine. But seeing the numbers posted, I figure I've gotta get some sort of credit for my wife, 18 month old, and 3.5 year old who all have a dozen of them with me. My 3 year old can set up the tent with only minimal assistance from me. YEAH! I'm liking this camping buddy thing!

My friend from Augsburg was explaining that to me. All private property, run by something-up-their-ass supervisors.

Without wilderness there can be no freedom.

Still, you have a beautiful country. Have you ever floated a river in your home country? Twain makes it seem quite romantic in a Tramp Abroad.

My first 'bag night' since the late 1980s, at the Wedge in the San Rafael Swell, Utah

I have barely camped in recent years let alone out under the stars, the last time before this was a few years ago in Arizona where I had a 6 person tent with a queen size air mattress and support from a friend with a 100 foot RV (seemed like it anyway). I grew up tent camping every weekend from April through November in England and in 1997 spent 40 straight nights in my tent while driving cross continent from San Francisco to Newfoundland. The previous bag nights were high in Yosemite where we woke up each morning to a thick layer of frost on the bags, a little warmer this time. I'll post a trip report when I've worked on the pictures...

I really enjoyed the time outside and I don't think the dogs even noticed that we weren't home, I'll be doing it a lot more!

Back from a sweet weekend in the scorching heat of Escalante. Not too bad when there's a swimming hole every 100 yards or so. We even lucked out and found this jaw dropping campsite to start the trip off.
