Some shots from xc skiing the Fan Creek area a week ago. We stopped and did 5-6 miles on our way down to Grand Targhee. Pretty weak and very crusty coverage for early February in this part of the park, but they've gotten a foot or more since this at least. Usually one of the snowiest parts of northern Yellowstone.
Was at deer valley last weekend. Rain all Friday. Then about 4 in snow. Was bad. Wasn't skiing, volunteer worker for the freestyle championship. Was going to ski Saturday but was crappy. Have to get to Targhee sometime
Good to see the snow coming into the Rocky Mountain States. Do know parts of Montana and Idaho could really use it. Wyoming and the Absarokas are getting some good snow. Yea! But here in the desert southwest, it is full spring. Now with the rain this winter the desert floor here near Organ Pipe Cactus NM is covered in green plants and now the flowers are appearing. The other day saw at least a dozen different wildflowers out and about here near Ajo and Why, Arizona.
Projecting up to 2' of snow here over the next 36 hours - but based on the rain coming down at the moment, it's gonna be dense, slushy stuff. We'll see.
Looking pretty grim up here also. Winter so far has not given me much hope for a turnaround later this month or in April. Guess it's time to dust off and tune up the gravel bike.
