Hey guys, I've been reading peoples post's on here for quite sometime, and finally decided to join the conversation. I moved to Utah 3 years ago from West Virginia because I have always favored southern Utah's remote desert backcountry, and I wanted to be able to backpack here as much as possible. I really love Canyonlands especially needles and the maze. I do actually enjoy Island In the sky as well, but only in the winter months when the people have vanished and it goes back to feeling some semblance of remote again. I did the west rim of Zion recently and really enjoyed that, but I'm not a big fan of the main Zion trails in peak season as they tend to feel more like the Black Friday at Wal Mart experience. I actually havent made many local backpacking friends who love it as much as me, which isnt as sad as it may sound as I love being alone in then middle of nowhere. I drive down to southern utah a lot, even on normal 2 day weekends to backpack so if anyone is ever looking for a companion to head out into the wilderness with then I'd be glad to get to know you.

Zach

Hey! Some friends and I are getting permits to backpack Paria Canyons down in Vermilion Cliffs. Trip planned for May, 5 nights. Won't know exact date until this Fri. Will be whatever is available on their calendar. If interested, let me know. I'll get you a permit. ($30 for 5 nights).

That sounds awesome. Message me when you figure the dates so I can check with time off work and stuff, but I am interested. I was actually just looking at that and buckskin as an option for a trip I'm gonna do in march but I dont want to deal with ice water wading. I have to take a trip with a friend from across country first week of march because he is getting deployed overseas with the navy. I think I'm gonna do the maze in canyonlands that week if you or anyone you know wants to join for that as well.
