Hey, everyone. I have been mining backcountrypost.com these last few days in anticipation of my early booking on April 2nd. Great resource! Thanks to all past contributors.

I am wondering about travel on the upper Lamar River upstream of campsite 3F2. There is a park service cabin at the top of this drainage beneath Lamar Mountain. That would suggest that horses probably go that way and there may be a trail of some kind. Any beta on this route? It would seem a great option for some ridge walking to connect to Hoodoo Basin and campsites 3M7 and 3M6.

Scott

P.S. I don't want to run afoul of netiquette in backcountrypost.com, but would it be acceptable to cross post my question to the Yellowstone Facebook group? I know that's moderated by Jim Bohannon, who knows everything.

The last time I was up there predates the significant flooding a few years ago, but it was fairly straight-forward at that time. I'm not sure if they still make regular trips out to that cabin though - I didn't actually see the cabin when I was there, but I also wasn't looking for it. Short answer being: if you're comfortable w/ the ridge walk/climb over to 3M7/3M6, then the route-finding/travel up the river shouldn't be a problem.

I'd be really interested to see a trip report if you head up that way though.
