Yellowstone Lottery 2025

Aw ...... What kind of rep do we have..... A old fart and a cripple....

Sounds like potential for a good joke.

An old fart and a cripple walk into the backcountry. . .
Nevermore seen .............................................

Outdoor_Fool, I can’t change the dates, they work, and with the reservation system, that’s important. But I *will* be somewhere in Yellowstone, that I can hear the elk bugling!

Scatman… Danny’s last backcountry trip? That’s sad. I don’t want to think about anybody’s last backcountry trip.

Danny is at the end of his rope for putting a pack on his back and heading into a backcountry campsite. He doesn't carry the lightest pack either. His quad muscle and back make it very difficult for him anymore.

One of my hiking buddies was able to score us a Snake River / Heart Lake permit for September.

Not sure what your route is on this, but if you are going in or coming out at the South Entrance, then you should check out the falls on Forest Creek, particularly if you are staying at campsite 8C1. You'll have to walk up the creek bed to get to it, but it'll be worth your trouble.

A friend got permits for a trip where we'll stay at Joseph's Coat and attempt to see Fairyland Basin. Very interested to see how challenging that one is.

And I think we'll be doing an overnight somewhere around the Black Canyon this weekend.

No lottery luck required for either of those!

Our first night will be 8C1 actually, staying at Flagg Ranch the night before, so we should have plenty of downtime once we get to camp.

I stayed there a couple of years ago, but it was a long hike in from Lynx Creek & I've wanted to go back to explore some more around there.

We're doing 8C1, 8C4, 8C4, 8O2, 8J1, out.
