Yellowstone Lottery 2025

First time ever entering and I got April 1st at 7AM! Got 8G1, 9D2, 9D1 and 8R5 for middle of September , pretty pumped and felt pretty lucky!
Incredibly fortunate! Nice selection of sites there.

I came up empty. Anyone know how popular the boat-only sites are on Yellowstone Lake? Maybe a kayak trip...

I had only one boat campsite issue when my daughter and I canoed around the lake, but that was before the lottery was in place. I pulled a couple of lottery draws if you are interested. PM me if you are.

I got my opportunity to get a reservation yesterday morning. While it took a little bit of switching around, I’m going up Thunderer, to the Cache Creek Cut-off, down Cache Creek, and out at Footbridge. I’m hoping it’s beautiful, and not too people-y. I want to see Wahb Springs and the big meadows that are rumored to be up there. Whooo hooo! Oh, not yet. In August. :)

We got our annual Bechler trip booked. Learned through experience that rec dot gov will prevent you from booking sites that are too far apart according to trail miles. We want to do one where we go off trail from Pitchstone to Gregg Fork, trying to follow an old disused trail, and it wouldn't let us book 9D2 after Pitchstone. So we'll see about calling and making a change after explaining the plan to the rangers.

Got the site at Ice Lake for the three nights in September (19th trough the 22nd) that I wanted. I'll do a day hike to Wolf Lake and then check out Little Gibbon Falls on the way back to camp. On day three, I'll head back to the trailhead, hop in the Sube and head east to the Cygnet Lakes Trailhead and then hike in to the lakes. Cygnet is good grizzly country, so maybe I'll get lucky.

I've got got five committed and the campsite holds eight, so I might open it up to folks here on BCP who might want to go.

@TractorDoc needs to get on here and let people know about his trip to the Bechler. Could be some buckjumping going on in the Bechler this September!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I thought ice lake was a car campsite? It's so close to the road

Technically I was shut out of the lottery, and somehow @scatman convinced Mrs. Scat to use her April 6th spot to attempt making an early reservation. Even at that early date everything near Dunanda Falls was reserved -- 9A3, 9A2, and 9A1 (and 9D1) must be the most popular backcountry sites in the park.

We managed to make some reservations that take us from Buffalo Lake down Boundary Creek and eventually out at the Bechler RS. I'm not sure what kind of buckjumping Hugh has planned for Bechler, but if it happens it will be in the meadows and not the canyon this time.

I do hope to make an off trail side trip to the Valley of Death; should be interesting. Oh, and apologies in advance to the group that did reserve the Dunanda sites when we will be passing thru. . . we will be crashing your party at the falls. :)

Found this description........ Start at the Bechler Ranger Station and head north on the Bechler Meadows Trail. After 1.6 miles, take the Boundary Creek Trail northwest. You will need to ford Bartlett Slough, a body of stagnant water ranging from 2 to 4 feet deep, depending on the time of year. After crossing the slough, you will emerge into Bechler Meadows. Continue north; when you reach campsite 9A1.

LOL...... Scat mudturtle time?

Just google Dunada Falls.....pages and pages.

Ice Lake is a nail biting trip into the heart of Yellowstone Bob! I had to choose a site that Danny could get to. This will be his last Yellowstone backcountry trip. :(

We'll be buckjumping the entire length on this one! I'll be dressed like the Big Chief. I'm assuming Patrick will be bringing the jambalaya, gumbo and
Étouffée?

Mudturtling is one of my specialties. No one is allowed to hang onto my kilt while crossing the slough. :)

That may be outdated because there are definitely some little log bridges across a shallower spot on that slough. Would not be pleasant to ford!

@TractorDoc I've been curious about the Buffalo Lake entry. That will be some cool walking through that part. I don't think many people ever go that way.

Not many ......... The Park has the trail ending at the USFS boundary !!

Probably just burrito shells with a bunch of random stuff in them -- maybe with sauce this time. :)

That approach was always our original plan -- simply head down Boundary Creek starting at Buffalo Lake -- 9A5 to 9A4 to 9A3 to 9A2. We will make do with alternate plans and should still have a great trip.

The approach to Buffalo Lake looks like a boring walk thru trees on an abandoned forest service road for the first number of miles -- then follow the supposed official park trail in the rest of the way. I am expecting it will be more of an off trail experience even if we do find the official trail. Things look like they could get interesting at Buffalo Lake and beyond. . . especially if Hugh and Bob are there.
