Any Recommendations for a 3-4 day backpacking trip to the Uintas in October? Or in the Wasatch Range. We may be late on the fall colors, but maybe not?! Thanks!

Hi @Jleui, welcome to backcountrypost. October can be tricky month for backpacking in the high country, generally speaking, it's not usually good. Long nights and cold weather but sometimes there are unseasonably warm days in early October. And you won't hit any fall colors in the High Uintas - there are no leaves up there! If you do get an unusually warm weekend, then pretty much anything is on the table up there. I'd aim for the higher use areas since there won't be anyone around. Christmas Meadows is a great choice - Amethyst Basin and Middle Basin combined would fill your time nicely and you would not be disappointed. Tying together the West Fork Blacks Fork and East Fork Bear River drainage is another good option. Check out this trip report just posted by @uintafly:

Putting together a 3-4 day trip in the Wasatch will be a little tougher unless you do something point-to-point. And remember, your chances really aren't great for anything working out in either place in October.
