This Douglas Fir is a lot like my friend Stan. It isn't very tall but is pretty big around. We measured it at about 22 feet in circumference which is big for the dry Colorado climate..

Wow! What area of the state did you find that?

@mike_offerman

Hi Mike. It is in the Southern Sawatch. Stan bumped into it a few years ago and showed it to me last fall. He reported it to the Forest Service but they already knew about it. They asked to keep it low key so it doesn't turn into a circus with people climbing it and God knows what else.

This was from 2 weeks ago in the San Juans of CO. Not very big, but at an altitude of around 13,750' it is one of the highest trees in CO.

My turn to say WOW. If you had said 12,750' I would have been impressed but 13,750' is crazy. I have been that high at least a hundred times and have never seen a tree at that altitude.
