Anyone ever been there? I'm very curious about it. It's quite a bit further east; if you take the Crouse Canyon Road all the way to the Allen Draw, there's a jeep trail (according to Caltopo anyway) that heads up Dead Horse Draw. It looks like it ends before getting all the way to the pass, but if you bushwhack on foot, it's less than a mile from the end of that road to the actual pass.

I hunted deer there (Diamond Mountain) for many years - But the last time I was there was about 20 years ago. We camped every October just off of Mail Draw Road that you can see on the google earth image just Northwest of Dead Horse Pass - there is a rough dirt road that turns North from the bare dirt spot you can see in the image. We always camped up against the hill at the end of that road. I'm sure I walked over that pass many times - since I walked all over those hills looking for deer. But back then, I never heard it referred to as Dead Horse Pass (that I can remember) and we didn't have the great benefit of satellite imagery! Your question makes me miss the place though... I may have to make a trip there again for old times.

Sounds like you were right there in that feature that they call "Head of Rye Grass"—another great, colorful name that makes me wonder about it.

I really need to explore that area one of these days too.
