That particular top Scat had years of engineering and testing countless hours and it came out the best for lessening wind resistance , repelling female grizzlies and most important scaring bison.

Summer heat has arrived in the Midwest, so hiding from the sun under a canopy of trees was important on this weekend's hike.

After a morning jog I nibbled on a BBQ crunch wrap and strawberry matcha beverage at the Cuyahoga Valley Farmers Market (I saved a portion of the wrap for later).

Then took the usual hike to Blue Hen Falls. The falls was throwing an impressive amount of water for this time of year.

Then pushed on the unofficial trail towards Buttermilk Falls. There must have been some considerable rainfall recently because the log I usually walked over at the first stream crossing had washed away. It now lays along the bank on the opposite side of the creek.

​

The trail also held a number of soupy mudholes. Squish squish!

Farther downstream it was easy to see where all the loose rock had been washed to the edges exposing the smooth creek bed.

​

Buttermilk Falls. It was also flowing well. The last time I was here the large tree on the falls was leaning across the top of it.

The heat ticked up on the hike back and took some wind out of my sails. At least I think it was the heat. . . perhaps half a crunch wrap may have played a role as well. ​

I had to make this G rated…. In reality, Scat was modeling a light weight burgundy hiking t shirt with a lovely coordinated just above the knee kilt.
