It has been raining a lot lately. The ground is too saturated to do much outdoorsy work at home, so headed out to Mohican State Park to see what condition the waterfalls were in.

The trail was flooded below the dam, and I stirred up a goose as I was looking for an alternate route.

Big Lyons Falls was pouring. Two different camera speeds of a similar view.

This is the most water I have seen pouring over the edge of the sandstone. Member of BCP pic from under/behind the falls.

We had a nice snow storm last Tuesday, so I was looking for a hike in the foothills this past weekend that didn't involve too much mud - Jack's Mountain fit the bill. Since January, I have been rotating through my cameras and on this hike I took the Canon Digital Rebel. The Digital Rebel was released in 2003 and has a 6.3 MP sensor. I also carried the Canon PowerShot SX150 IS in my kilt pocket.

Jack's is about a 1,240 foot elevation gain from the trailhead to the summit, so not much, but it is gained over approximately 1.18 miles, so there is some steepness to it. My left knee that has been bothering me did reasonable well on the climb up, but was painful at times on the way back down.

There is a trail along this ridge that extends from the summit towards Parleys Ridge.
I'll have to check it out later this spring. I'm guessing it makes its way to the top of
the ridge somehow.
