Recently we went to Diamond Fork canyon (near Spanish Fork) to ride the excellent mountain bike trails in the area. On our way up the canyon we noticed the creek next to the road was unusually large for the these somewhat barren and dry hills. In fact most watercourses around here are mere trickles. Perusing the topo revealed an aquaduct tunnel going from Strawberry reservoir, thru the divide into upper 6th Water creek and on to Diamond Fork main, turning these little streams into something appearing raftable.
After riding in the morning we launched our boats at Red Ledges and floated the fun class II swift water creek for 9 miles down to highway 6. We portaged one logjam and a bony tree studded drop that would have damaged the rafts. Occasionally we had to walk thru shallows.
Very fun highly active paddling with only a few minutes of leisurely floating. Water levels may vary on this surprise find, but on June 16 it was excellent.
