A week ago I returned from a trip to Olympic Peninsula where I combined mountaineering and packrafting. I climbed a summit and then floated a river to the ocean. I still wanted to classify this trip as "backpacking" because this was the most important skill used to hold the trip together. It is probably not the best etiquette to post a link to another site here, but re-doing a trip report with all the image links here seemed like too much work. So, here's the link to the report at my personal blog:

Here's a sample image from the trip:

What a trip! This is the kind of trip that I want to start doing. And as you mention the trip definitely has an artistic feel. Summit to sea. What a great idea. I've been looking into a packraft for quite some time. Hopefully I'll be able to complete a trip like this soon. Thanks for sharing.

Salud!

Very cool. I've always wanted do a trip very similar to that - starting in Hoh and going up into the high country. I never thought to add a packraft to the mix. The mountaineering looks exciting and fun, too!
