Steele Butte

This is an impressive-looking peak west of the Henry Mountains. From Google Earth, it looks like there may be a hiking route to the top via a canyon on the SW side. Has anyone done this?

I've never tried to hike it, but have driven past it a bunch of times. Access to the SW side, at least from the road, is blocked by a gate with a No Tresspassing sign.

No idea what foot access from along the fenceline, or coming around the butte from off the main road on the north side would be like.

Pure speculation, based on memory (mine sucks, so caveat emptor and all that...), and I've never looked at it with hiking in mind, but from what I think I remember, it's pretty vertical near the top. At least what you can see from the main road on the north side.

I'll be driving by it again next month. Will try and take better mental notes, or even some pictures...

The imagery pretty clearly shows a trail angling up to the left to what looks like a gap in the caprock. No idea if it's an animal or human trail.
