Good lord. I am so over this St. George summer. I'm stoked September is finally here, but we've still got another month or so before temperatures are bearable. So I have a question for you southwest Utah folks: where do you go during the dog-days of summer for weekend trips when you don't feel like driving more than 2-3 hours from home? (We've scoured the Pine Vally Mountains, but haven't done a ton up on Cedar Mountain yet.)

We just hiked Rattlesnake Creek/Ashdown Gorge this weekend. Also hiked Crystal Springs trail to the Cedar Breaks amphitheater bottom this summer. Spring Creek in Kanarraville is good. Then we do lots of water hikes and canyons taking in account monsoon weather. I also just did a two night backpack down Lee's Pass in Kolob Canyons to camp by Beartrap and explore the area way back overlooking the Chasm Lake area.
