Joined up with a group heading down Spry Canyon on Sept. 20. this was the first time I had done Spry and my beginning to branch away from the standard routes I've been on a million times. Had a blast! The water levels were really high, especially since I hear Spry is a "dry" canyon. The views of Zion are spectacular during Spry.

Thanks for posting, Brutus! Spry has somehow evaded me thus far, but is high on my list. How was it without wetsuits? Was there a moment when you wished you had one?

Also, how are the rope pulls? Anything tricky?

Chilly without a wetsuit when its full of water, but none of the swims are long, and you're back into the sun. The exit is a boulderfield scramble, cooking in full sun. Thank heavens for the Spry pool in Pine Creek at the bottom to jump into and cool off in. The comb ridge rap is a potential problem rope pull, with many deep rope grooves in the rock. Last man down has to be careful that each rope strand is in a different slot, so they don't bind up on the pull.

Thanks!

The pulls on most were easy but as Rick said you just have to make sure the last man down pays close attention to where the rope lies in the deep, gnarly grooves!
The one pic of the swimmer was the deepest and longest pool. It was cold with the first plunge in but then you're back in the sun.
