BCP'ers,
The BLM has opened up public comment on a proposed road to be bulldozed through the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area that many/most of us enjoy just north of St. George. This includes the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve which was fought over and finally compromised to be preserved in 1996 largely to protect desert tortoise habitat and allow adjacent development.

Details:

Public input:

Convenient email address to submit your opinion - BLM_UT_NorthernCorridor@blm.gov.

Please, please, please spend 5 minutes to compose and submit your input or opinion about this idea. I did.

There is also a public meeting in St. George on 12/17. IMPORTANT NOTE: The public input period ends January 6.

Well, to write your opinion for you I would have to, well, know your opinion. I am trying to not pollute others or the site with my opinion. You just click on that email link I gave you and just write one or two cogent sentences about what you think. Please.

I had to drill around a lot and am not even sure if I landed in the correct spot but it looks like one option was to upgrade FR031. Given the area topo, that would be a very expensive option.

Is that the one we use to access Yant Flat? That would be just as bad impact-wise. https://bit.ly/2rmd5LZ

yes. I've only travelled in from the western end (from Leeds to YF) but I hear that's the better part of the road
