Was hoping to have posted more of the things I've been doing this winter but it seems that every time I go hike or ski i'm enveloped in a cloud. Finally got off the weather schnide yesterday in a big way. I had been watching the forecast and saw that the high peaks of the Whites were finally calling for sun and winds below 30 mph. Time to get it! I did Mt Adams and Madison which is 9 mile loop with 5100+ ft of gain. If you ever do a single day Presidential traverse going North to South this is over half the total elevation gain in the first two peaks. Always good to get them while legs are freshest.

Absolutely not

The gnarly ski lines of King Ravine. No skiers today as most everything was bulletproof.

Absolutely mandatory. Apparently some girl nearly went for a life changing slide in microspikes on the back side of Mt Adams before I summited. I even saw some bare boot tracks. I just don't get it, kind of like the folks that insist on post holing through two feet of new snow.

Looking south from Mt Adams to Jefferson, Clay and Washington. They alway look so close until you start to walk there.

Target number two. I think that you can see Katahdin photobombing in the left side horizon. It may very well be Saddleback or Sugarloaf too.

Heading down the sheet of ice to the closed Madison hut. Fine spot for lunch with some fellow social distancers.

Adams, Washington and the now closed Wildcat ski area. Wind started to pick up here so it was a much shorter summit visit than Adams. The stock market may have been crashing again, the world is coming down with a pandemic, and for a few hours it was not even on the radar.

* deleted my stupid question, having learned to read since typing it... lol *

I really wouldn't know, but it seems like the snowpack is very low? If King Ravine gathers similar snow like the infamous Tuckermans ski lines...

Missed the question but King does not get as much snowpack as Tucks in a normal year. King faces north while Tucks faces east. Westerly winds usually translate a few inches of snow in to wind transported feet of snow in the east facing ravines. That said the snow pack is low for mid March. Last year at this time it was several feet more.
