I have been backpacking for 35 years in CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY and in BC and AB Canada. A F&W Biologist for the last 20 I have moved around enough that I was always within an 8 hr drive to some amazing places. 95% of the time I was backpacking solo armed with a can of pepper spray and a brain to keep me out of trouble. After meeting a beautiful and adventurous lasse from Venezuela four years ago, I now have a willing partner for most trips possible.

Maybe we'll hook up with someone on this forum for a thru hike requiring a second vehicle. Planning on going back to the Wind River Range, the Sawtooths in Idaho, and a beach hike in Olympic NP next year

a day hike to Sawtooth Lake is a great way to introduce you to the Sawtooths!
