I was going to do a day hike on the Mary Mountain Trail last July 31. I had read about the bear closure from this thread so I wasn't surprised. I saw this when I got to the trailhead in the morning.
I was beyond pissed, so there is a BMA closing the off trail part of the Hayden Valley and now because of "bear danger" the MMT is closed also. I'm a bit of a rule follower so I got back in my car, but I'm still pissed about this.
These are the signs that line the valley parallel to the road. Note that is it still ok to hike the MMT (unless there is "bear danger")
Given this, I hope that all the decision makers behind this mess get fired
