President Biden on Thursday expanded the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument by nearly a third in an action that was widely praised by the Indigenous leaders, politicians, conservationists and community organizers who had long fought for the enlargement of the protected natural area that serves as the backyard of the Los Angeles Basin.
I know we don't have a ton of CA people on BCP, but the San Gabriels have some incredible singletrack, forests, and limestone canyoneering. I logged hundreds of miles on those trails when I lived in the area. It's a well deserved monument expansion.

The Biden administration added to the Southern California monument that was established by President Obama in 2014, and also expanded the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument in Northern California.
