Welcome from a fellow SE Michigander! I've gotten tons of great advice and information here and hope you will as well.

Hi all! I'm Renee, from SE Michigan, just starting out in hiking/backpacking. My family used to go camping regularly when I was a kid, but I haven't done much of that as an adult. I think I'll be lurking in these forums a lot! :)
Hey!! Also a Michigander here! What’s your favorite hiking/backpacking spot you’ve done so far?

Welcome! I'm looking at your photo - are you at Lake of the Clouds?

Regarding favorite backpacking spot, I'll dive in with an answer. When we started backpacking in 2013 (at age 50 - we were late to the party) we kept a list and tried to rank favorites. But pretty soon that became too hard because there were too many great ones to choose among. I know which trips are at the bottom of my list, but the top is very crowded. :) We've loved many of our Desert SW trips in the spring & fall (Paria, Boulder Mail Trail, Coyote Gulch and other tributaries of the Escalante, Canyonlands, Grand Canyon a few times, etc.) and a bunch of mountain trips in the summer (Yosemite, North Cascades, Wind River Range, Alaska, etc.), plus Great Lakes trips in MI and Canada (Pictured Rocks, Isle Royale, Lake Superior Coastal Trail, etc.). There are so many fantastic places to go - our list of future trips keeps getting longer rather than shorter...

I see from your other post that you're looking for a trip in Nova Scotia. I can't offer any help with that; the only time I was there was in 1970 and that was as a child in our family's Winnebago!
