I have Nov 18,19, and 20 off from work. I should be able to get on the road mid afternoon on the 17th. Looking for somewhere to go with the dog. Camping, if weather permits would be great. Small hikes (5 miles or so) with the dog is also something I am looking for. Open to ideas and suggestions.

I'd recommend checking out the San Rafael Swell, but that may be a bit longer of a drive than you'd like, coming from CO Springs. So many options in there though. Lots of great trip reports on here.

Users in Colorado probably have better ideas for closer options.

There are lots of different loops in the Lost Creek Wilderness that would make for a great 3 days. Not too far from the Springs.

I am assuming you don't want to freeze your ass off, and you want to stay in Colorado. Do you have 4wd?
The Swell is great. It's a big place.
There are great camping opportunities in Colorado National Monument, I have not spent a lot of time there though.
Hovenweep, near Delores, superb ruins and nice day hikes, car camping sites, more improved.
Dominguez Canyon near Grand Junction, if you have 4wd you can car camp at the Cactus Park trailhead near the center of the canyon (the upper part of the canyon may be too cold) and day hike in the best part of the canyon. Beautiful waterfalls. Primitive camping.

Great Sand Dunes. Definitely outside the box.

I have a Subaru Forester. So not a true 4x4 but AWD with better clearance than just a car.

Hobenweep looks interesting and it's a "dark space" park. I could try my night photography again.

Just realize that the trails at Hovenweep close at sunset, so you'd need to take your night photos from the campground or outside the park.

That's what I was going to say. Weather report needs to be checked. It can get pretty dang icy with wind in the San Luis Valley. Can always bug out to a motel in Alamosa if it gets to be too much.

Is CO really as snow free as it looks? If so, I'd hit the Saguache Range and hike some sections of the Colorado Trail or other lower elevation trails; or maybe hit the eastern side of the Arkansas Valley near Buena Vista. If the weather becomes nasty, I may head for the Wet Mountains, they have some low elevation (by CO standards) hikes..

Enjoy your days off!
