I'm new to this site and I am about to head up to the Uintas next weekend. We now have a 2 year old so backpacking is a little limited lately. I do have a great expedition vehicle that can make it pretty much anywhere and was wondering where a good spot would be to go camping? I don't want to pull up to a campground where there are a bunch of trailers etc, so I am looking for a little rugged path that will limit some of the cars and provide some what of a solitude camping experience. I have been to the Uintas many times, but always to backpack so this is an unfamiliar territory for me. Thanks!

The Murdock Basin sounds like it fits your criteria. Once you get up near Pyramid and Echo Lakes the road is 4x4 and pretty rough. I've gone up there in my grand cherokee but I think the road is pretty intimidating to most people. Marshall Lake is also a nice place just past Echo Lake.

Another option is Iron Mine Lake which is accessed via a side road off the Soapstone Basin road and is also another out of the way lake that you can 4x4 to.

Alexander Lake might also be worth checking out.

I second Murdock Basin, if you like to Fly Fish try going down to the portal and walking up the Duchesne River it dosn't get much pressure and is just beautiful. Or go up into Broadhead meadows from Murdock Basin Road if you continue north through the meadows it will put you back on the Mirror Lake Hiway
