Cloud Confused For Eruption At Mount Rainier National Park

A cloud hugging the top of Mount Rainier, an active volcano, prompted concern in the greater Seattle metro area Wednesday that the mountain was erupting and led the National Park Service and U.S. Geological Survey to assure the public that there was no ongoing eruption.

I laughed so loud yesterday, seriously!! This was so hilarious!!!

If Mount Rainier erupted, they would close all the trails well ahead of time and not let everybody climb the mountain. In addition, seismographs would pick up seismic signals and earthquake swarms beforehand, and GPS stations and tiltmeters on the mountain would pick up ground movement. Gas detectors would also pick up an increase of volcanic gases, and scientists would go nuts long before an eruption.

I don’t think those are lenticular clouds, but is instead the Mothership. Have a safe trip. Take lots of photos. See you in a few lightyears.
