It's been since March that I've hiked Mount Wire, and on that trip there was a new bench up on the summit that hadn't been there before. I guess it's good for an old timer like me so that I can rest my bones at the top before heading back down. This time, they had put new trail signs along some of the trails lower in the foothills, and there was even one for those who chose to head up to the Living Room instead of hiking up Wire.
I hauled a Canon EOS 1D C to the top with me along with a wide angle Canon EF 16-35mm 1:2.8 L II USM and a Sigma 100-400mm zoom lens. Most of the shot were taken with the wide angle lens, but I did switch over at the top to get some closeup shots of other peaks and locations around the city that interested me.

We got an early start because we were scheduled to donate blood in the afternoon

One of the new trail signs they have installed. I was told this happened just a couple of
weeks ago.

My partners in crime on this day

More new signage

Sun rising on Red Butte

Another new sign

And an information board

This way.

Not too many colors in the foothills this year, but an occasional maple had some flash

Staying with my orange Halloween theme in October - Looking down at the University of Utah

Somewhere back there is one of my compadres

I liked the light on this dead tree as the sun is catching up to me

Showy goldeneye

Some more colorful maples

Aster in mid-October

Love the oak on this section of the trail

Yarrow that has gone to seed

Look back down Georges Hollow towards the city

Red Butte Canyon

The Canon EOS 1D C and lens weighs like 12 pounds.

Sheila, making her way up the steepest section of the hike, with Red Butte behind her

My favorite mountain Mahogany only this time with a wide angle shot

The old Air Mail beacon shows itself

Katie waiting for us on the summit by the beacon

These two gentlemen had commandeered the bench.
Nice view of the valley and the Oquirrh Mountains to the west

Looking south, down into Emigration Canyon and along the front of the Wasatch with Parleys Ridge directly ahead.

Some buckwheat sulphur at the top still hanging on

Wide angle group shot by the beacon

BCP Greetings from the beacon? Okay @Rockskipper, can I make it to the top?

Maybe, just maybe.

I am now prepared to direct Air Mail traffic.

View of the photographer and her mother below.

Could this have something to with the previously mentioned D4 Skipper?

View south from the top of the beacon

View along the Mount Wire ridgeline from the beacon

View to the head of Emigration Canyon from the beacon

Back on dry land and look who's got the bench now.

Is Squatch going to give the beacon a go?

Popped on my Sigma 100-400 mm lens and got a shot of Grandview Peak

And one of Ensign Peak

And while I'm at it a shot of the Avenues Twin Peaks (middle of shot)

Some new sage among the scrub oak

The workhorse on this hike, the Canon EOS 1D C along with an old 16-35mm L lens.

Katie blazing a trail on our way down

Sheila coming off the ridge, with Georges Hollow to her right

West side of Mount Wire in all its glory.

I guess the trailhead that we began at is called Colorow, though it was not marked at
the street for some reason.

And on the ARUP to donate blood

And lastly, a view of Mount Wire from the ARUP Clinic parking lot.

So after giving blood and then going to get a pizza for dinner, I started to fell unwell and today I am sicker than a dog. I've got an appointment with my doctor tomorrow afternoon and am supposed to receive the flu shot and a COVID-19 shot. Tuesday should be an interesting day as all the previous COVID-19 shots have made me pretty ill for a 24 hour period.
The End.
