The lookout offers restrooms, an interpretive area and an observation deck.

The slopes of Mount Washburn are covered in wild flowers and lush green grasses from late June to the start of August. There are also some cool geologic features created by the parks volcanic history along the route. The hike features expansive views of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Hayden Valley and Yellowstone Lake on the south side and the Absaroka Range to the north, not to mention the beautiful meadows sitting at the base of Mount Washburn. On clear days you can see as far as 50 miles in any direction from the summit, including glimpses of the Tetons to the south.
