It's been three years since I last summitted Mount Raymond, so yesterday I decided to give it a go and see if it is still in my wheelhouse. The approach was my usual one from the Bowman Fork Trail in Millcreek Canyon. Total miles on the hike was approximately 11.4 to the summit and back.
The wildflowers were special throughout. The Millcreek approach never lets you down this time of year.

Overview map

Getting a 7:00 am start

Upper Millcreek is closed due to consrtuction

So we had to walk the road up to the Terraces Picnic Area to reach the trailhead

We'll be taking the Bowman Fork Trail

Our destination - Mount Raymond

Richard's geranium in Bowman Fork

Typical of the hike through Bowman

Wild roses along the trail

Thimbleberry was plentiful

Entering the Mount Olympus Wilderness

I've been told mites are responsible (Rocky Mountain Maple Felt Mite)

Cow Parsnip

Heart-leafed arnica going to seed
Once out of Bowman Fork, you switch back up through a conifer forest

Typical of the trail through the forest

Showy Fleabane

I liked the look of these pinecones

Skyrockets

A visitor on some Showy Goldeneye

Diamond Clarkia

After White Fir Pass, you soon enter stands of aspen

Wyoming Paintbrush

Fireweed

Lupine

Columbine

Aspen Pea

Lupine and rosy paintbrush

Grandeur Peak across the canyon

Church Fork Peak across the canyon

Mount Aire across the canyon

A meadow of False Sunflowers

Mount Raymond comes into view again

In the center of the images is a Black-headed Grosbeak

Reached the intersection with the Alexander Basin cutoff trail

More aspen

Jacobs Ladder

Oh my!

A bull moose on the trail

The moose was eating rose shrubs by the trail. We had to wait about thirty minutes for it to leave the trail. I was beginning to think that we might not get to Raymond after all, but soon after it headed down into a gully.

Finally leaving the trail and dropping down into the gully

Bluebells

This columbine had faint blue leaves - Colorado Blue Columbine perhaps

Getting closer to Raymond

Wasatch Beardtounge

Climbing up the ridge from Baker Spring before traversing across the slope of Gobblers Knob

Our trail, heading diagonally up the slope of Gobblers towards Bakers Pass

Mount Raymond and some of Wildcat Ridge

Thirsty?

View down into Porter Fork

Approaching Baker Pass

Can you see the squirrel that was yacking at me?

View of Raymond from the pass

And a view up at Gobblers Knob from Baker Pass

Heading up the ridge towards Mount Raymond

Nice view of Mount Aire and unnamed peak 8490 across Millcreek Canyon. Beyond Aire is Big Mountain and East Canyon

Another look at Gobblers

View up Big Cottonwood Canyon (upper portion)

Monument Plant

Nice view of a portion of the Cottonwood Ridgeline to the south

Paintbrush on the ridge

The summit of Raymond comes into view (zoomed image)

But we still have a ways to go yet.

Great Basin Fritillary

@Rockskipper , did you forget your sunglasses?

Time for some scrambling

Scatman frst

Then Katie

Then Sheila

More scrambling

Clematis

Still a little more scrambling to go.

View back along the ridgeline

Almost there - view up at the summit

The summit

Indra Swallowtail

Wildcat Ridge. The summit of Mount Raymond is the official east end of Wildcat Ridge.

Katie, enjoying the views

Broads Fork Twin Peaks across Big Cottonwood Canyon

A true Pioneer - Lewis and Clark that is.

Sheila makes it to the summit. This was her first summit of Raymond

Anicia Checkerspot

USGS Reference Mark

Short ridge that extends to the southeast from the summit

Walking back from the end of that ridge

Stonecrop

For Skipper

Starting back down

Katie led the way

Back to the slope of Gobblers. Wildflowers were tremendous across the slope.

More beardtounge

Leaving Raymond behind

A beautiful wild rose

Baker Spring

Looking back up Gobblers Knob

Swallowtail on some Horsemint

Back in Bowman Fork and some Globemallow

View back at where we were

Back at the trailhead

Walk down the Terraces road to the Millcreek road

Back at the Sube
Of course, summiting Raymond can only mean one thing!

Nachos at the Porcupine!

Look at that.

And a Luna Negra Dark Mexican Lager to wash it all down with.
Happy Fourth everybody!
The End.
