A couple of friends and I decided to try this short section of Eardley. Only Steve had technical experience, so we were relying on his expertise. We decided to hike in the day before, carrying full size packs with dry bags inside for sleeping bag, camera etc.. So the packs were less than 25 lbs, and we ended up throwing them along from pool to pool anyway.
The hike up the reef was spectacular, long and a little sketchy in places, but all in all not that difficult. We camped in the wash, in a beautiful spot about 10 minutes above the first water.
It was hot, 80 degrees when we started but we were freezing our asses off after the first swim. We took long breaks to warm up in between pools. It was a lot of fun. We jumped most of the pools. One was particularly nasty, a 7 or 8' jump and then a 40' swim around a corner. It would be more fun to hike down Eardley to the pools and camp, to experience the whole thing. The pic's were with my Kodak point and shoot, a pretty good 3 mp camera with a Schneider lens. BTW, it is worth the hike to detour and hike up Straight Wash, a tilted, bleak yet spectacular place.

The mouth of Eardley Canyon at Straight Wash
Where we would be coming out the next day.

Almost to the top, I believe the descent was just over that high point, but I could be wrong.

The next morning.

The final drop. One of the hikers later emailed me a pic of me going down, but I lost it.

That last swim was a bitch.
