There were some posts some time ago regarding loss of appetite while backpacking/climbing at altitude. I've experienced the same, was not able to figure out after hiking all day, every day, in difficult backcountry terrain (off trail navigation) in the High Sierras why I wasn't tearing into my dinner, or breakfast, or snacks for that matter. I felt like I had to nearly force my food down. I never got enough calories, actually jettisoned about 3 days worth of food on our last day. A little research produced the following answer. Hope it offers some help; it did for me: https://bit.ly/3yKsT9s

Yep that can be a normal ooccurrence.Thats when others around you need to watch and make sure everyone is eating and drinking nornally. And it can happen one year and not the next. Also can affect people at around. 6000 ft.

I agree Bob..this year on the Gneiss Creek beaver bog walk, (4 day/3 nites) I ate only 1 of 3 suppers and 2 of 4 breakfasts…snacking on trail mix, power bars and some jerky instead…Austin bout 900 ft elev and Gneiss Crk 7500 ish Elev.

When I hiked Mt Whitney this year I struggled to eat. I brought a bunch of food that wasn't get most nutrient dense but food I knew I would want to eat(peanut butter M&M's). Even then I had to set a timer to remind me to grab a snack every so often.
